Employee Spotlight - Steve Tarvis

Employee Spotlight: Steve Tarvis, Hot Air Solder Leveling (HASL) and Lead-Free Hot Air Solder Leveling (LF HASL)

CALUMET, Mich. — Steve Tarvis has been a valuable member of the Calumet Electronics team since January, 2003.

Although he’s held a number of jobs during his nearly 18 years with CEC, Steve currently works in our HASL and LF HASL departments. He immerses the PCBs in a bath of molten tin/lead alloy then removes the excess solder using hot air knives. This is a critical process that helps ensure solderability and protects the copper circuitry. It’s a very important step in our quest to deliver top-quality PCBs to our customers.
Steve is knowledgeable and experienced, but he’s also dedicated and very well-liked. “He always has a great attitude, bright smile, and genuine laugh to brighten everyone’s day,” said Michael Messner, Employee Development & Training Manager. “He quickly helps cross-train folks in his department and owns the maintenance on his machine that he runs daily.”

“This whole place is one big team — everybody will help you in any way they can.

— Steve Tarvis

A much as Steve appreciates the collaborative atmosphere at Calumet Electronics, he also recognizes the importance of the work. He explains, “Our circuit boards go all over the world and are used for lots of important applications. I’m proud to be a part of that.” Steve’s dedication extends to his community as well. In addition to his job, he still finds time to be a volunteer fireman.

Thanks to committed employees like Steve, Calumet Electronics is able to manufacture high-quality PCBs that serve critical industries that demand perfection. We’re very fortunate to have Steve as a member of our team!
