Calumet Electronics’ partnership with KLA Corporation traces all the way back to 1998, when they were known as Orbotech. Our purchase of a PC1411S Orbot AOI system began a 24-year relationship that continues today. Although they’re now a multinational company with more than 10,000 employees and offices all around the world, KLA’s commitment to customer service has never changed.
KLA engages in the supply of process control and yield management solutions for the semiconductor and related nano-electronics industries. Its products include manufactured chips, reticle, packaging, surface profilers, nanochemical testers, KT pro equipment, and compound semiconductors. KLA’s PCB division has a long history of innovation that helps Calumet Electronics meet our commitments to the U.S. government and its prime contractors.
“Our close ties to Orbotech, and now KLA, make us a better company,” said Calumet Electronics Vice President/CPO Elden Hendrickson, Jr. “Especially given our remote location in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, KLA’s PCB division does a great job meeting its response time commitment. With an average of 300 inches of snow per year, that’s no easy feat. PCB division field service engineers have driven through snowstorms to service our equipment and keep us up and running.” Hendrickson also values their service training for some of Calumet’s engineers. “They help us to stay competitive so we can continue to support our community as one of the largest employers in the region.”
Calumet Electronics and KLA’s PCB division share a common objective: to develop and deploy next-generation technology to deliver the highest quality, most reliable PCBs for advanced electronics. Partnerships with suppliers like KLA are instrumental in our efforts to manufacture the thinnest, lightest, fastest PCBs. Calumet currently has 13 units from KLA, including LDIs, sprints, plotters, and fusions, as well our front-end software packages.
As a major North American PCB manufacturer, Calumet Electronics runs 24/7 to deliver high-quality circuits, on time, to high-profile customers. Uptime is critical. “Our longstanding relationship with KLA’s PCB division is vital to Calumet Electronics’ success,” notes Hendrickson. “Whether it’s automated optical inspection, direct imaging, inkjet systems, or frontline CAM and engineering software, it’s reassuring to have KLA’s PCB division by our side.”
