The emergence of Calumet Electronics as a global leader in PCB manufacturing is a success story that continues to unfold. Working with us to ensure future growth is a valued partner for the past three decades: MacDermid Alpha Electronic Solutions. A specialty chemical company based in Waterbury, CT, MacDermid Alpha has a strong foothold in every step of the electronics supply chain.
Calumet and MacDermid Alpha have collaborated on innovative technologies for more than 30 years. MacDermid employees Jim Watkowski and Chuck Maetzold, now retired, forged the relationship beginning in the early 1990s. Since then, the two companies have developed game-changing ideas, like making holes conductive with M-Systems electroless copper. The base of shared knowledge now includes electrolytic metallization, copper hole fill, and Affinity ENIG, a world-class final finish process.
Elden Hendrickson, Jr., Calumet Electronics Vice President/CPO, says the key to the relationship is the caliber of MacDermid Alpha’s people. “Their Senior Technical Representative, Eric Mueller, has 40 years of PCB fabricating know-how. He’s always finding ways to improve our processes and expand our technologies. And he’s been a valued teacher to both our senior and rising process engineers.”
Then there’s the stellar contribution of Accounts Manager Jeff Miller, who oversees product requirements and new product releases. “He’s a solid conduit between Calumet and MacDermid Alpha,” says Hendrickson, noting how Jeff also helped CEC’s younger leaders to implement new chemical technologies. “The entire MacDermid Alpha team makes it easy to do business.”
In a rapidly-changing PCB marketplace, with its relentless demand for innovation, one thing about our relationship with MacDermid Alpha isn’t likely to change: The good chemistry between us.
