Although Nathan Trotter has been supplying Calumet Electronics with high-quality solder and tin for just 15 years, the company has survived and thrived for more than two centuries to become a leader in their industry. Founded in Philadelphia in 1789, Nathan Trotter now has far-reaching supply networks around the world.
The company imports raw tin ingot into the U.S. for conversion into both electronic and industrial solders. For the PCB fabrication and assembly market, the tin is alloyed under strict quality procedures to create all of the primary solders, including Sn63, NT100Ge, SAC0307, and SAC305. After the alloying process, the solder is extruded into either bar or solid wire forms so that it can be used for wave, HAL, or selective solder applications. In-house laboratories analyze the solder to ensure a consistent top-quality result.
“We’ve run daily for 15 years with zero issues and a steady supply of product,” said Calumet Electronics Vice President/CPO Elden Hendrickson, Jr. “We really appreciate the hard work of Hugh Day, Nathan Trotter’s sales representative, as well as Luke Ellington and the team at NT who are always attentive and responsive to any of our needs.”
Nathan Trotter’s two manufacturing plants, located in Eastern Pennsylvania, total 80,000 square feet and accommodate 50 employees. Each day Nathan Trotter ships up to 100,000 lbs. of product from these locations to customers across North America in industries such as automotive, electroplating, power storage, heat exchange, bearings, and chemical.
Nathan Trotter is also thoughtful about scrap and recycling. In 2008, the company established Tin Technology and Refining, a separate recycling division located in West Chester, PA, that handles all of these secondary materials.
Hendrickson added, “Apart from their excellent product and reliability, we appreciate that our partners at Nathan Trotter work hard to exceed expectations. Like Calumet Electronics, Nathan Trotter holds itself to the highest standards of quality, dependability, and trust. It’s a pleasure doing business with a company that shares so many of our values.”
