Engineering Spotlight – Sam Traynoff, Factory 4 Process Engineer

Sam Traynoff has been with Calumet Electronics since July 2020 after graduating from Michigan Technological University. In a short time in Factory 4 as a Process Engineer, he’s shown the type of hustle and dedication the American electronics industry needs.

Dr. Meredith LaBeau, Director of Process, R&D, and Manufacturing Engineering, says Sam is a shining example of a world-class process engineer who is committed to learning and improving every day.

“Sam is growing into a great process engineer and leader at Calumet,” Dr. LaBeau said. “As his career develops, he will continue to advance our production and technology needs.”

Calumet Electronics is ideal for brilliant early-career engineers like Sam to play a critical role in advancing the company’s manufacturing capabilities. Sam and other young engineers at Calumet are passionate about fine-tuning the performance of complex processes. He is exceptional at engaging in critical thinking, problem-solving, and exploring advanced technologies. Most important, at Calumet Electronics, he gets to have a direct impact on the success of process engineering while learning from some of the best in the industry.

The majority of experienced American electronics manufacturing engineers are nearing retirement age. The industry needs an infusion of talented young engineers like Sam with the drive and passion for rebuilding domestic PCB manufacturing. Calumet Electronics is proud of Sam and all of its young engineers for their efforts to make the American electronics industry more successful.

Sam says he hopes to eventually provide leadership to the entire industry, and he’s most proud of the significant role he plays within Calumet Electronics, as the company works to accelerate American manufacturing capabilities to support key channels such as defense, power grid, aerospace, and medical devices. “I take pride in creating the high-quality PCBs our country depends on,” said Sam. “I love working at Calumet because it enables me to be hands-on in contributing to vital technology.”
